Police say the woman was crossing Shaw Ave. near Marks around 3:45 Wednesday morning when she was hit by a car.
Authorities say the car was going eastbound on Shaw when the driver struck the woman.
Fresno police say the woman was wearing dark clothing, and they say the driver says he didn't see her.
Authorities say the driver did not appear to be speeding, but they say they're looking into the possibility that rainy conditions may have contributed to the crash.
The name of the victim has not yet been released. The driver of the car is not facing any charges.
Eastbound lanes of Shaw Ave. between Valentine and Feland were closed for much of the early morning but have since reopened.
