This year's honorees come from varied backgrounds but they do share a commitment to their community. The event took place at the Exhibit Hall in downtown Fresno.
Debbie Hunsaker is president of two businesses. Alert-O-Lite and Sign Max. Both businesses are involved in the construction industry. Hunsaker explained, "Luckily I was always one of the those, if someone tells me I can't do something then I'm gonna find a way to do it. Construction, when it's in your blood, it stays in your blood."
American Red Cross regional CEO Ellen Knapp was impressed by the achievements of her fellow honorees. Knapp said, "We're trying to make sure our home and our families are taken care of but our community that we live in is also taken care of and to be recognized for that, for doing something at the American Red Cross that I love to do every day is quite humbling."
Central California Blood Center development director Chris Sorensen called this year's class phenomenal. She said, "They're all so hard-working. They say there's a fine line between sanity and insanity and I think insanity gets you through each day and allows us to do so much for the community."
The luncheon benefitted a center dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence. Fresno neurologist Dr. Tanya Warwick told the audience, "The Marjorie Mason Center provides a service that is of paramount importance to our community. It gives people a safe place to go."
The two businesses honored were EYE-Q Vision Care and Nalchajian Orthodontics.
