Pilot from Visalia survives plane crash in San Luis Obispo County

FRESNO, Calif.

Sheriff's Deputies say /*Bobby Joe Blythe*/ of Visalia was flying to the airport to pick someone up when he had engine trouble.

Blythe called 9-1-1, but dense fog made it difficult to find him, so crews used GPS pings from Blythe's cell phone to figure out where he crashed.

The 65-year-old was standing next to the Piper Malibu when authorities found him. He was taken to a local hospital to be treated for a head injury.
