Gov. Brown to propose pension changes

FRESNO, Calif.

Among the changes, the retirement age is expected to be raised to 67 for new employees who are not public safety workers.

Retirees would get their benefits from a guaranteed benefit as well as a 401K-style plan.

Public employees would also be required to pay more toward their retirement and health care.

The proposal is expected to save the state about $900 million a year.
