Police say the girl was walking to school around 9:30 on Monday morning.
The attempted abduction happened near the intersection of west 11th Street and H Street in Merced.
Investigators say a white car pulled up to the girl in an alley. The driver grabbed her and pulled her into the car. Detectives say she managed to escape.
