FRESNO, Calif.

A new crop report notes harvests of rice, grapes, almonds and walnuts have all virtually ended. Nearly 75 percent of the cotton crop has been harvested in the Southern San Joaquin Valley. Some farmers are considering a second picking in their fields.

Navel orange growers are one of the few who are busy this time of year as their harvest begins.

U.C. Davis is partnering with a Dutch university to study water usage.

Students from Davis and a university in the Netherlands will learn about global water issues and technologies applied to food, agriculture and the environment.

The partnership is to advance agricultural and environmental studies.
