Bomb threat clears building on Chico State campus

CHICO, Calif.

University spokesman Joe Wills told the Chico Enterprise-Record that an anonymous caller said a bomb would go off in the Student Services Center sometime Wednesday. Wills says the call was made to the campus recreation center around 7:20 a.m.

The Student Services Center was cleared out, and the area around it taped off. Officials have notified the campus community through phone and text messages to avoid the building.

Officials say the building likely will remain closed for the rest of the morning, as authorities search it for explosives.

Classes on campus have not been canceled because of the threat.
