S. Valley charity giving out Thanksgiving dinners

FRESNO, Calif.

The Visalia Salvation Army prepared hundreds of meal boxes for needy families in the South Valley.

The charity received a donation of 238 turkeys from the Lions Club.

Workers will be giving out meal boxes to families on Tuesday and Wednesday.

"It's very important to us because some families who come to us and tell us their story they count on it. They can't afford a thanksgiving meal for their families. It would just be another regular day for them if we were unable to assist them," Pastor Jesus Quintanilla of the Visalia Salvation Army said.

The Visalia Salvation Army expects to serve more than 2,000 people this year.
