The victim is described as a black male adult in his late teens or early twenties. Investigators say the victim's friend called police about a potential homicide.
Officers initially responded to an apartment complex located on Harvard. When they didn't find anything -- they started to walk around the area -- and question neighbors. That's when they discovered the man's body lying in the alley.
Lt. Anthony Martinez with Fresno Police said, "Right now, we have the entire block closed off just based on the initial information we got regarding one location and ultimately finding the deceased in a separate location. We want to make sure we cover everything and make sure if there are any witnesses or evidence to be contacted, we're able to do so."
Police say they're not sure how the victim died. The victim's friend who made the initial call is working with investigators to try and figure that out.
