Volunteers pass out holiday treats to homeless

FRESNO, Calif.

It all started with a little boy's simple suggestion.

More than one-thousand cookies and ten gallons of hot chocolate were served to the homeless on Monday night for the second year in a row.

The volunteers all came together to bake cookies after a Valley mother went on Facebook and posted that her four-year-old son Manny wanted to help the homeless by serving them hot chocolate with marshmallows.

"I went home. I didn't think nothing of it. I turned on Facebook and I said, this is silly, my son said this. The next thing, we had 16 volunteers and over 600 cookies last year," Rosemary Galvan said.

In addition to the cookies, candy, and hot chocolate, Manny Galvan and his friends also gave away gloves to help keep the homeless warm.

Many left with heaping piles of cookies.
