Record rain and snow in Central California

The storms cause major problems throughout the area including road closures, flooding, rock slides, and even avalanches.

A combination of record snow packs in the Sierras and rapidly warming summer temperatures created a new hazard at the beginning of 2011's summer. Wide-spread river flooding created dangerous situations all over the Valley. The volatile conditions prompted authorities to close many rivers in the Valley.
