Clovis police say "carjacking" was actually getaway

FRESNO, Calif.

Clovis Police initially said a group of three people forced their way into an S.U.V., pointed a gun at the driver, and made the victim drive them around the city around 8:45 Monday night.

However, investigators later said that the carjacking victim wasn't a victim at all, and was actually helping the other suspects. He was arrested later in the evening.

Officers say the group was on the run from police after they were caught shoplifting at Sierra Vista Mall.

The three were arrested later in the evening, and police later arrested the driver as well. He faces numerous charges including burglary and filing a false police report.

Investigators say the three other suspects are facing burglary and conspiracy charges.
