Pennsylvania hospital to screen job applicants for smoking

FRESNO, Calif.

Geisinger Health System is now screening applicants for signs of smoking. Officials at the hospital say they don't want their employees to smoke because they want them to feel healthy and they want their patients and visitors to feel that they are in a healthy environment. They say it's an overall commitment to the well-being of everyone at the hospital.

Beginning February 1st, applicants will be given a nicotine test which screens applicants for cigarettes, smokeless tobacco, nicotine patches and nicotine gym. Those how fail the test can reapply after six months.
