FRESNO, Calif.

Two pairs of twin Holstein calves - quadruplets - were born at the Zuppan Dairy last month in Glenn County.

The four young calves are full of energy, and their birth is really a statistical marvel.

The odds of a cow giving birth to four calves is about one in 700-hundred, but the odds of four female calves being born and all of them surviving is one in 179 million.

"I couldn't believe my eyes. I just kept looking and looking and looking. I finally came to the conclusion there were four new babies from one cow," Michael Karle of Mid-Valley Vet Hospital said.

The calves should be ready to produce milk for the dairy in about two years.

More than ten-thousand agricultural leaders from across the U.S are gathering in Hawaii for the annual aMerican Farm Bureau Convention.

The convention kicks off Friday night and continues through January 12th.

Farmers and ranchers are expected to discuss new government regulations, international trade and business development during this year's convention.
