Police: Dog dispute leads to shooting in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif.

The shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening, in the 900 block of Clark, near Lewis.

Police believe the incident started after dogs got into some sort of fight. They say two groups of people were involved, but so far, they haven't been able to find the suspects or the dogs.

"If it was on purpose or if it was something that just occurred. A verbal disturbance occurred as the result of this dog fighting incident. The dogs were from what we believe broken up as the two parties were walking away, shots were fired and the one individual was struck n the lower leg," said Lt. John Papaleo with the Fresno Police Department.

At this point, police don't know if the shooting was gang related. The victim is expected to survive his injuries.
