Feb. 9 AM Live Ag Report

FRESNO, Calif.

Ag experts say the dry winter is bad news for 20-percent of California wheat farmers who rely solely on rain to water their fields.

Even wheat farmers who have access to irrigation might face problems, because some water districts say they may cut deliveries if weather stays dry.

The California Wheat Commission says the crop is not as far along as it should be by this date.

The annual blossom trail season is officially underway in California.

But this year's blossom showcase is off to a slow start.

University of California farm officials say they've not seen many almond blooms yet in Northern California, but say buds are forming on schedule.

Crop reports show farmers are irrigating, pruning and planting orchards, just as some blooms start to appear on fruit trees like peaches and plums.
