Hundreds of children line up for free dental care

FRESNO, Calif.

Valley dentists teamed up with students from Fresno City College's Dental Hygiene Program to offer free services to the community. The Save And Seal Our Smiles event was part of Dental Health Month, and was sponsored by the Fresno-Madera Dental Society.

Students from kindergarten through sixth grade got free exams, teeth cleanings and other services. Some of them, offered at other sites.

"We also have offices out in the community that are seeing kids today referred directly from here that have cavities, Maybe baby teeth that need to be taken out, or other kinds of emergency services that dentists have volunteered to do for the program today," said Fresno dentist Dr. Tom Downing.

Organizers of Saturday's event said many of these children don't have access to routine dental care and some had their first exams of their lives.
