Driving less to save gas is just the start. An exclusive Action News poll conducted by SurveyUSA showed 18-percent of people polled ate out less. And 12-percent were now shopping at discount stores.

Katrina Rocha of Fresno said, "We started doing the family nights at home for movies, doing Netflix and popcorn at home because to take a family of six out that's a lot of money."

Another Fresno resident, Cindy Martins said, "The 99-cent store we do a lot of little things at the 99-cent store. It's across the street we can walk to it."

Both Martins and Rocha's even bought more fuel-efficient cars to cut down costs in the long run.
