March 29 AM Live Ag Report

FRESNO, Calif.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, sheep ranchers are preparing for the big holidays by increasing herd size. Ranchers are also timing the sale of sheep so it can come right on time when consumer demand is up. And best of all, despite the high number of lamb, prices are expected to remain low through the holidays.

Lily flowers are also blooming for businesses are also a common spring-time purchase.

Most Easter lilies sold in the U.S. are grown by a handful of growers along the California-Oregon border. Now with Easter fast approaching, farmers are busy shipping the flowers to markets all across the country.

Growing lilies isn't easy though. Since they tend to bloom in the summer, growers have to rely on greenhouses to pot and cultivate the flowers, just in time for the holiday.
