Dressed in a t-shirt with her sister's picture, Annisa Flores is working hard to keep the memory of her sister, Jennifer, alive. "There's not a day that goes by that i don't think about her."
Dozens of family and friends, including Flores' 18 year old son -- gathered at this street corner in Chowchilla Friday. "I just don't want her murder to be forgotten, because I live with it everyday."
They're hoping this public display of their pain over Flores' murder will spur new leads in her cold case.
"Hopefully, somebody will say 'you know what, I can't keep quiet.' Maybe they'll come out and say something."
Flores was killed at her home in 2007. Police believe her boyfriend /*James Curry*/ shot her twice.
Curry was arrested and charged for the killing. But he was released several months later when a judge declared there was not enough evidence to go to trial. Curry claimed to be at the Tachi Palace in Lemoore when Flores died.
"Our belief is that she was killed anywhere from 2:45 to 3:30 in the afternoon, which did not provide James Curry an alibi," said Det. Charles Scott. "There was no video evidence of James Curry at that time. His defense is that she died much earlier in the day when he was at the Palace."
Detective Charles Scott is the lead investigator. He says Chowchilla Police believe Curry is the only suspect. He also believes Curry killed Flores to prevent her from testifying against him in a child abuse case. Curry now lives outside of California. Police need more evidence before they can re-arrest him.
Det. Charles Scott said, "It's very frustrating not to be able to answer some questions the family has had over these last five years."
"They tell us there's nothing they can do. And I'm not going to settle for that."
The family is now offering a $1 thousand reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Flores' killer.
The group released purple balloons -- Flores' favorite color -- to send her a message.
"I wish I could have had that one moment that I could say I love you."
