Madera carwash raises funds for teen shooting victim

MADERA, Calif.

Jesus Espinoza, 16, died Wednesday after a shooting outside a Carl's Junior restaurant in Madera. The teen was also known as "Jessie."

Sunday, several of his friends gathered at a Madera intersection washing cars and collecting donations for his family.

"We're just helping out to show that we care for him. To show that I care for him. I know that everybody that's out here. Everybody's out here for him," said Eleazar Iruegas.

Madera Police say Wednesday's shooting was gang related, but family members say Espinoza was not a gang member.

Three teenagers are in custody for the crime -- including the 15-year-old accused shooter.
