/*College of the Sequoias*/ interim president Brent Calvin says the South Valley community college was recently dealt another blow when it realized it would likely face another $2 million in cuts if the governor's tax measure doesn't pass in November. In total, COS' budget will be slashed by nearly $6 million.
Students on campus have already spent the last month registering for fall classes but Calvin admits the school will have to cut at least eight-percent of them, even though many students have already finished enrolling.
Classes that have the highest chances of being cut are those that have low enrollment or aren't staffed with an instructor yet.
College of the Sequoias has had to continuously cut classes each semester for the last several years.
This is Brent Calvin's last year as interim president of the school. After June 30th he'll go back to his post as dean of business while the school searches for a new replacement.
Five candidates have been narrowed down. They include former Visalia Unified Superintendent Stan Carrizosa and current president of West Hills College Coalinga, Dr. Willard Lewallen.
The public will have a chance to meet the five candidates for COS president at a public forum at the school's theater on May 14th.
