Under the plan approved Friday -- 432 beds will open at the jail, but no timeline has been set.
The funding was approved by the community corrections partnership, which is in charge of the distribution of AB109 funds. That legislation allows inmates to serve prison sentences in county jails.
The funding plan approved Friday will now go in front of the Fresno County Board of Supervisors.
