Chowchilla is now 50 percent bigger

MERCED, Calif.

A 15-hundred acre area south of town will be used for commercial and industrial development.

Another four-hundred acre area west of town will be used for houses. Officials hope both annexations will help attract businesses and create jobs.

Kevin Fabino said, "We couldn't be better placed on the intersection of 99 and 152, so for businesses and industry we think we're ideally located with a fantastic quality of life for those employees coming here."

Developing all of the new land may take 20 to 30 years, but officials say we could start to see some activity in the next couple of years.
