Tuesday night the fire had little activity and held within the current fire perimeter. Wednesday, fire crews plan to continue construction of the fire line on eastern side of the fire, and plan to hold the fire line that has been constructed over the past few days on other parts of the fire.
Crews will also start assessing the fire perimeter for the needs on fire line suppression repair.
The flames started Friday, June 1st, at the Freeman Creek Giant Sequoia Grove in the Sequoia National Monument -- an area authorities say hasn't burned in 140 years.
The fire has sinced moved away from the Freeman Creek Giant Sequoia Grove. It is now burning into the Golden Trout Wilderness Area.
Fire officials say the fire is now 55-percent contained.

Closures:
To ensure safety of visitors, fire officials closed the Lloyd Meadow Road (FS22S82) north of Lower Peppermint Campground, the Freeman Creek Trail (32E20), and both Jerkey Meadow and Forks of the Kern Trailheads. Efforts are underway to notify backcountry travelers currently in the Golden Trout Wilderness. Travelers along the Lloyd Meadow Road, Freeman Creek Trail, and at the trailheads are being asked to leave. The Lloyd Meadow Road and Freeman Creek Trail will remain closed until fire officials determine they are safe for travel.
