The Stephen Leonard Park Community Center in Merced is missing a foosball table, karaoke machine, pool, hockey, and ping pong tables used by city kids.

Merced police say the burglars broke into the center at night earlier this week and made off with the items worth more than $4 thousand.

Merced Recreation Coordinator Lam Kindavong said, "For someone to do something like this, they really have no heart, no thought about how it's going to affect the kids."

The city of Merced has been facing a challenging budget cycle and officials don't think they will be able to make up the lost items.

If you'd like to make a donation to keep the center open contact the Merced Boys and Girls Club.
