Fruit fly warning has cherry growers worried

FRESNO, Calif.

Cherry growers in Washington sate say if a single larvae is found in a box of cherries during inspection, an entire warehouse could be prohibited from selling its produce.

Due to the economy, some growers have cut back on spraying their cherries against fruit larvae. They say those cherries will eventually fall to the ground and could set up the perfect breeding conditions for a fruit fly pest next year.
