Community raising money for family of boy killed in crash

FRESNO, Calif.

7-year-old Donovan Maldonado was killed in Northeast Fresno when he was hit. His father and sister were also severly injured in the incident.

People touched by the tragedy are holding a community yard sale to benefit the Maldonado family.

On Saturday supporters dropped off goods for the sale including some children who gave up their own bicycles for the cause.

"Watching the community come together has been absolutely phenomenal. A lot of people don't have money but they have things that are valuable an they've been bringing it out," organizer Marilynn Florer said.

The community yard sale is tomorrow at the family picnic area of Blackbeard's Family Entertainment Center on the Chestnut Diagional near Ashlan in Central Fresno.

Gates open at 10 a.m. and the sale goes until 4 p.m.
