Undercover court sting for unlicensed Tulare Co. drivers

TULARE COUNTY, Calif.

Visalia Police officers performed the court sting detail at Tulare County Superior Court.

Undercover officers were inside the courtroom targeting people with a suspended license.

Once outside, officers were watching to see if anyone got behind the wheel, and sure enough, a repeat offender fell right into their trap.

Americo Gonzales, 36, was pulled over minutes after pleading guilty to his fourth offense.

Sgt. Chris McLain said, "We might catch two or three, and at least we know we're being successful and following up and holding them accountable."

The special sting operations are made possible with a special grant funded by the office of traffic safety.
