A court hearing for a Madera woman, accused of shaking her neighbor's child so severely the baby was left blind and deaf, was postponed today. Officials say they need time to find an interpreter for the defendant.

Natividad Reyes, 34, is from the City of Mixtipec in the state of Oaxaca. She speaks a dialect called Zapateco.

Reyes was arrested last Tuesday. She was under investigation for nearly a month after four-month-old Christopher Rios was found with a traumatic brain injury.

Christopher's mother says she left her son with Reyes while she went to work. She says when she came home, Christopher was unresponsive.

Reyes is expected back in court on August 30th.
