Drought causes early harvest of corn

FRESNO, Calif.

Farmers in Minnesota say they're having to harvest weeks earlier than normal because of the drought. A harvest three weeks ahead of schedule is just one impact of the drought of 2012.

The dryness is creating smaller ears of corn, but it's also driving up prices. High corn prices means cost increases at the grocery store on everything from cornflakes, to meat, to milk.
