Fresno State fans celebrate homecoming victory

FRESNO, Calif.

From the band to the stands, Fresno State fans were full of Bulldog spirit on homecoming night.

The game marked a first for Fresno State as the 'Dogs played in their first Mountain West League conference game against the San Diego State Aztecs.

The homecoming festivities started early as thousands of Bulldog fans tailgated.

"Homecomings always the most fun. We've got 70 people here at our tailgate and everybody's been here for about 30 years," John Heil of Sanger said.

Donning their red and blue, alumni, students and the community packed the field to dine and wine before the game.

"Every time. We're in the same spot every time and we bring the bulldog every time and come and cheer them on," Ryan Salisch of Fresno said.

With the weather so hot lately, he makes sure to bring plenty of ice and water for him and his dog.

"We're ready for a cool game though. This has been three hot ones not usually in October," Salisch said.

And the dogs couldn't ask for more: cooler weather and a great game.
