U.S.D.A. grant funds to specialty crop farmers

FRESNO, Calif.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture set aside $18-million to help California's specialty crop growers, including farmers in the Valley. The state got most of the $55-million awarded nationwide.

The U.S.D.A. grants money to states to improve the marketability of specialty crops. The Central Valley is the nation's largest producer of specialty crops which include fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, and dried fruits.
