Stretching your dollar at the fair

FRESNO, Calif.

The Big Fresno Fair is all about having fun and some exhibits, like the Gold Gulch Adventures, are offering entertainment free of charge.

For Clovis mother of three Gabby Martinez, that is good news.

"well actually we save a lot of money," Martinez said.

From rides to food, the costs can quickly add up, but fair officials say there are dozens of free exhibits to explore.

"Your admission ticket can get you so much once you get into the gates. We have over 350 hours of entertainment once you get inside that's all free. We have our Table Mountain Rancheria Park area where there are hundreds of things you can do you can do for free in the park for families. We have entertainment in our livestock area, lots of exhibit buildings," fair deputy manager Lauri King said.

The floriculture exhibits has more than 15 hundred plants and flowers. People can admire the works of local green thumbs and even see a Venus fly trap up close.

Your ticket can even get you a free seat to watch one of your favorite entertainers at the Big Fresno Fair.

"We realize that not everyone can afford to go to the concerts. We have a lot of music enthusiasts here in the Valley. We want to make sure that we provide the opportunity folks to be able to go," King said.

You can save with the passport to savings coupon books for fair food.

"So for $7 you can get over $150 in coupons. It's a really great way to save at the fair and to save on the food that everyone loves," King said.

Officials say fair goers can look forward to more daily discount offers in the days ahead.
