Potato farmers across the country are harvesting a larger than expected crop, and that means lower prices at the grocery store.

A new U.S. Department of Agriculture report shows the 2012 national potato crop has grown by 1.4 percent compared to last year.

Ag officials say prices for potatoes will be lower because of the increased production. Ag officials also say potato growers will see a 6-percent rise in sales.
