A large squirrel population boom is damaging crops and frustrating fruit farmers.

A squirrel population boom is menacing fruit growers and others in some patches of the country. Squirrel populations are up in several states including New York, New Mexico, Indiana and Ohio.

Ag officials say the mild winter and huge nut crops have caused an explosion in the squirrel population. Farmers say the animals are eating their crop and invading their farms.
