Group arranging burial services seeks volunteers

A nonprofit group that is arranging burial services for abandoned children is seeking volunteers. Garden of Innocence is looking for people who can help prepare or participate in funeral services. Contributions also are accepted.

The national group has contracted with Fresno County to make burial arrangements for children who have been abandoned, many of them stillborns left behind at local hospitals. The first volunteer session is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Holiday Inn Downtown Fresno at 1055 Van Ness Ave.
