It happened around 12:30 a.m. in Northwest Fresno near the intersection of Shaw and Feland.
Authorities say a sedan was traveling east bound on Shaw when a man stepped in front of the vehicle.
The victim, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. Action News has learned both the driver and the passenger are cooperating with the investigation.
"As part of the investigation, our traffic officers are investigating the driver ensuring that he was not driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, but that's strictly a part of the investigation right now," Lt. Anthony Martinez of the Fresno Police Department said.
Shaw Ave. reopened later in the morning.
