1 dead, 4 injured in Central Fresno mass shooting

FRESNO, Calif.

Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer said the shooter, 42-year-old Lawrence Jones, went to work at Valley Protein just before five Tuesday morning. Then around 8 a.m., he opened fire with a handgun, shooting four other workers. He then went outside and shot himself.

Jones is a parolee with an extensive criminal history. He is in critical condition and two male victims are also in critical condition. One 32-year-old man is dead, and another 32-year-old female victim is in serious condition.

Blackstone and Abby is closed in both directions from just north of Olive to McKinley.
