Supporters of California's defeated Prop 37 are launching a new effort to label genetically modified food.

Proposition 37 would have required the labeling of all genetically modified ingredients in foods within two years. Opponents of the bill, including major food companies, spent millions of dollars to stop the initiative.

Supporters of the bill are not giving up. They are now looking to federal law to support their cause. Supporters want the farm bill to include a mandate requiring companies to label genetically modified food.

Right now, congress is deadlocked on the $500-billion bill.
