Effort to save Oakhurst theater nearing goal

FRESNO, Calif.

Supporters hit the streets with signs Saturday, encouraging everyone passing by to help "save the Met."

The cinema closed its doors November 1 after the owners struggled to deal with decreasing attendance and concession sales.

But three Oakhurst natives came up with a plan to get it back open.

They need three thousand people to sign up for memberships that allow you to see as many movies as you want at the theater.

Right now they're short by about 490 memberships, and they only have two days left to make it happen.
