Hundreds of job seekers attend Heald College Career Day

FRESNO, Calif.

Resumes in hand and dressed for success, dozens lined up for a chance at a job and many came hours before the job fair at Heald College even began.

"It's hetic. it's hard to find a job that fills your needs and something that you really want to go out there and be happy for the job that you want to go," said Matilde Lopez of Fresno.

About 40 different employers from sales to fashion to home care were on hand to talk with candidates and accept applications.

"We are hiring today, we have the ability to expand our business center. we could hire another six people in 2013 and that would be awesome."lisa rinehart/principal financial group recruiter," said Lisa Rinehart, Principal Financial Group Recruiter.

Organizers say the job fair is a great way for employers and job seekers to meet face to face and interact, a valuable tool in landing the next job.

For some the next job is a while new career. after decades in construction, Ron Arbino is reinventing himself with a business degree and trading in his hammer for a mouse.

"So I decided I should learn the computer after 30 years, I've always had someone else to do that work for me so now i needed to go back and learn that stuff so hopefully it works," said Ron Arbino of Clovis.

Recruiters say first impressions matter, so make sure your resume is ready and sell yourself even after the initial interview.

"Keep calling the employers back, staying in touch with them and letting them know you're really hungry and you want that job because there are jobs out there," Rinehart said.

This is the fifth job fair Heald College has hosted.
