South Valley home invasion

EARLIMART, Calif.

It happened in the town of Earlimart at around 7:40 a.m. on Washington Street near Dietz Road.

The family was just getting ready to start their day when they came face to face with the robbers. Tulare County Sheriff's deputies surrounded the house after several masked men pushed their way into the home. Tulare County Sheriff's Lt. Kevin Cotton says, "It appears they entered by force and removed selected items."

The family of seven was just starting their day when they say the suspects broke in. The parents and their five children—ages two to 16 – were not hurt during the crime. Guadalupe Perez, says "My sister-in-law was getting her kids ready to go to school when all this happened."

After the crime, detectives discovered two possible cars the suspects used in the crime. One was found on fire on Cecil and Vassar in the Kern County city of Delano. Lt. Cotton says, "There were a vehicle we located that was burned over in the Delano area and another vehicle we're looking at, at this time."

Guadalupe Perez says her sister-in-law's family is scared. She says the suspects tore through the home, trying to find things to steal.

Perez, "They said they have jewelry missing and the games for the kids and stuff."

Perez and other people who live on Washington Street tell Action News the area has been victim to several home invasions recently. Detectives confirm they have been investigating several similar crimes in the south county area during the last few months.

Perez says "I hope they get them because this has been going on for a long time here in Earlimart."

Investigators are releasing few details about the suspects but are following up on some leads.
