Drivers on Westbound Highway 180 will have fewer lanes to use, as construction moves forward on the braided ramps project.
Drivers on Westbound 180 were pushed into one lane of traffic from Saturday night to Sunday evening.
Crews are removing two of the five lanes on that side of the Highway.
The remaining three will be shifted toward the center of the Highway to make room for future work on the braided ramps project.
Assistant Project Manager Pat Hinterberger said, "This work that we've done this weekend really opens up our work zone to get what we need done. Then by the end of the project in the fall we'll be able to deliver a much better and safer route for commuters."
The weekend work created headaches for drivers as the on and off ramps as well as connectors were closed to cedar, chestnut and freeways 168 and 41.
Those headaches will likely continue as you head to work tomorrow morning.
"Tomorrow there might be some headaches," Hinterberger said. "We're asking people to try some alternate routes to get to work."
The $49 million braided ramps project will allow drivers to merge onto or from Highways 41 and 168 without ever letting their tires touch Highway 180.
Last month the eastbound lanes of Highway 180 were shifted over. Construction crews say traffic there is for the most part flowing smoothly despite the lane changes.
All of this work should be done and out of your way by the fall.
