Valley soldier needs bone marrow donor

FRESNO, Calif.

Army National Guard Specialist Marcos Corona was first diagnosed with leukemia in 2011. He entered remission months later, but his cancer returned late last year. Now he needs a bone marrow transplant.

His fellow soldiers and friends and family members have been taking part in bone marrow donor registration drives in Bakersfield and Fresno.

The next one is planned for Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center on Fresno Street near Howard Street. It runs from 8 a.m. to noon.

The process involves cheek swabs, so it's pain free.
