A very special four-wheeler was stolen in Atwater

ATWATER, Calif.

Joe Hoffar had a more than three decade career as a police officer but the now retired Hoffar finds this latest heist, just horrible.

Hoffar runs the Atwater Police Activities League known as PAL which serves more than two thousand kids in the area. The organization puts on free events including baseball and BMX. Their mission is to keep kids off the streets. "It's quite rewarding when you see the smiles on the kids," said Hoffar.

At about 9:30 a.m. on Monday morning, he noticed a cut in the fence that guards the storage unit and soon realized the quad parked inside was gone. That four-wheeler pulled a metal screen used to smooth the track before every one of PAL's BMX Nights.

Justice Woodruff and his partner run a private company that holds BMX races. They say they're hoping detectives find the $2,000 quad which was painted blue with green lightning bolts.

Police are reviewing nearby surveillance video to help them catch the thieves. Anyone with information is asked to call Atwater police.
