Fresno State dedicates new poultry education facility

FRESNO, Calif.

Monday, university, state and local leaders will dedicate the Foster Farms Poultry Education and Research Facility at Fresno State in conjunction with a major joint animal welfare announcement from Foster Farms and American Humane Association.

In the past, students traveled off campus to private poultry farms to learn about the industry. Now, they'll be able to study chickens up close. After nearly eight months of construction, Monday the building will be dedicated. The 16,000 square-foot building houses an eco-friendly research and training center that replicates professional poultry production for students.

Poultry is the number one protein purchased by American consumers and the California poultry industry provides jobs for more than 25 thousand people. The new eco-friendly classroom is slated to open in the spring of 2013 and university leaders are excited about all the possibilities.
