How Fresno State will spend larger budget

Officials at Fresno State and the other California state universities have revealed how they will spend a projected $125 million dollars in extra state funding for the 2013-14 academic year.

They plan to expand enrollment in online courses, boost employee salaries, and pay for increased energy and health benefit costs.

The CSU Board of Trustees is set to discuss the administration's proposal tomorrow.

The additional money marks the first increase in state funding for the 23-campus system after five years of budget cuts.

Those cuts resulted in layoffs, reduced admissions and tuition hikes.
