Grizzlies lose opening season game

FRESNO, Calif.

But fans at Chukchansi Park are still hopeful for some great baseball this season. "I'm looking for a lot of good games," said Alex Lara. "I'm looking for some new players to sprout and see some good baseball pretty much."

Lara is a self-proclaimed die-hard San Francisco Giants and Fresno Grizzlies fan and you can tell since he put his best foot forward with orange sneakers. Lara isn't alone, thousands packed into the stadium decked out from head to toe in orange and black.

The Grizzlies hope the energy from last season's Giants World Series win will translate over to this ball club.

"I think it's very optimistic to say we're going to have a good club this year," said Matthew Personale. He and his friend, Pat Comstock, were the first season ticket holders into Chukchansi Park for the season opener. They're looking forward to a winning season, hoping some players make it to the major league.

"I already told some of them I saw yesterday, I'm sorry to see them back," Comstock said. "I was hoping they'd be on a major league team somewhere."

Hopeful for a good season, complete with all the usual ballpark snacks. Some Grizzlies fans say more people should come to the game to watch the minor league players develop into major league stars.

"I think now more people in Fresno are going to see there is definitely going to be more coming from here, so I think it's going to help liven it up a bit and bring more people out here," Lara said.
