ACT helps Madera Man find homes for stray dogs

MADERA, Calif.

More than one-hundred dogs are looking for a good home.

Two weeks ago, Action News visited Nicanor Santiago's backyard in Madera which housed hundreds of dogs.

He started taking in stray dogs, and over the years he kept on taking in more and more. Some of those dogs had litters of their own. It just reached a point where it got out of control and he just couldn't do it anymore.

The City of Madera fined him numerous times for licensing violations, but since he couldn't pay the fines, he was asking for help.

Several volunteers from the Animal Compassion Team (ACT) went in and took some of the malnourished dogs out -- including some puppies. Those rescued dogs will be spayed or neutered -- and will be available for adoption.

If you would like to adapt one of these dogs, you can call ACT at (559) 299-6364 or visit www.animalcompassionteam.com for more information.
